About PMHS

Founded in 1993, the Pre-Medical Honor Society (PMHS) is a prestigious student organization in which pre-medical students who have achieved academic excellence can further their understanding of the study and practice of medicine. PMHS exists to make the pre-med journey less isolating and more manageable by connecting students to meaningful resources, mentorship, and community.

We focus on giving members honest insight into medicine and the path to medical school through experiences that go beyond textbooks and classes. PMHS creates spaces where students can ask questions, learn from people who have already been through the process, and support one another through the ups and downs of being pre-med.

Some of the events and opportunities available to our members include:

  • Q&A sessions with physicians across diverse fields

  • Info sessions with admissions representatives from top medical schools

  • In-house mentorship programs to pair members with upperclassmen

  • Clinical and non-clinical volunteering opportunities

  • Professional development workshops about topics such as interview preparation, resume building, finding research, and MCAT strategies

  • Events tailored towards international students and transfer students

  • Access to a Slack channel that frequently posts volunteering, research, and career opportunities

  • Discounts on MCAT prep courses (see below)

Today, PMHS is home to a community of over 275 dedicated pre-med students who are motivated, supportive, and serious about pursuing careers in medicine — but who also believe in helping each other get there.
